2. Is online therapy as effective as meeting in person?
Yes, online therapy can be just as helpful. Many find it convenient and comfortable at home. Our secure online sessions are engaging and supportive.
3. How long will therapy take?
It varies greatly depending on you and your goals. Some see improvement in weeks, others in months or longer. We'll set goals and check progress together. Therapy is a journey unique to you.
4. How will I know if therapy is actually helping me?
You'll likely notice gradual positive changes in your feelings and how you handle things. You might feel more in control, think differently, or cope with stress better. Open communication is key, so we can discuss your progress and adjust our approach if needed. Even small steps count!
5. What if I need to change or cancel my session time?
I understand that life happens! If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please give me 24 hours' notice to avoid a cancellation fee.
-
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the session cost.
-
If you need to reschedule, I will do my best to accommodate your preferred timeslot.
6. What can I expect during our very first therapy session?
Our first session is about getting to know each other and building trust. We'll discuss why you're seeking therapy, your goals, and I'll answer your questions. It's a chance to create a safe and comfortable space for you. Don't worry if you're nervous – that's normal! We'll go at your pace.
7. How do I know if therapy is the right step for me right now?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or want to understand yourself better, therapy can help. Considering it is a great first step. We can talk in our first session to see if it feels like the right fit for you. It's okay to have doubts – we can explore them together.
8. How many therapy sessions might I need in total?
It varies based on your goals and challenges. Short-term issues might take 6-8 sessions. Deeper or long-term therapy can take months to years. We'll discuss your goals and create a plan during our initial consultation.
9. Is everything I share in therapy kept private? (Confidentiality)
Yes, absolutely. Confidentiality is fundamental. Everything you share is confidential unless there's a risk of harm to yourself or others, in which case I am legally required to report it. Feel free to ask any questions about this in our first session.
10. I'm in India and concerned about the stigma around therapy. Will people judge me for seeking help?
It's completely understandable to feel concerned about the stigma that can sometimes be associated with seeking therapy in India. Historically, mental health wasn't always openly discussed, and there might have been a misconception that needing help was a sign of weakness. However, thankfully, perspectives are changing, and more and more people are recognizing that mental well-being is just as crucial as physical health.

Please know that reaching out for therapy is actually a sign of incredible strength and self-awareness. It means you're taking proactive steps to care for yourself, and that's something to be proud of. While outdated views about mental health might still exist in some corners, the more we talk openly about it and seek support when needed, the more we help to break down those stigmas.

My therapy space is a completely private and non-judgmental environment where you can express yourself freely.
11. How do I prepare for my first therapy session?
There's no need to overthink it! Just come as you are. You might find it helpful to jot down a few key things you'd like to talk about or what you're hoping to get out of therapy. However, if you're not sure, that's perfectly fine too. Our first session is mainly about getting to know each other and starting the conversation. Just be open and willing to share at your own pace.
12. Can you prescribe medication?
As a therapist, I am not able to prescribe medication. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who specialize in mental health and can prescribe medication. If we believe that medication could be beneficial for you, we can definitely discuss this, and I can help you find a qualified psychiatrist for a consultation. Therapy and medication can often work very well together.
